NOT ALL OZONE SYSTEMS ARE CREATED EQUAL.
Ozone is formed when energy from ultraviolet (UV) light or electrical discharge break the O2 bonds, forming single oxygen atoms which recombine with O2 molecules to form ozone.
This is commonly achieved by one of 3 means.
Electrolytic ozone generation
Ozone is formed from O2 by splitting purified tap water into oxygen and hydrogen using a patented membrane. Ozone produced by electrolytic generators is highly concentrated and very pure, since oxygen constitutes 88.8% of the mass of water. Electrolytic ozone generation does not produce any harmful substances or by-products. No feed gas or expensive external equipment required. This technology is small and compact.
The BioTek Ozone system is unique in its ability to create ozone directly in water, negating many of the problems faced with corona discharge systems.
Corona discharge method
Ozone is formed from O2 by high voltage electrical discharges, similar small scale lightning.Small corona discharge generators produce toxic nitrogen oxides as a by-product and are removed by off-gas catalysts during the creation process. However well designed systems are safe and simple to use.
Pacific Ozone systems utilise patented Floating Plate Technology (FPT) in the ozone creaction cells. The exclusive FPT design produces highly reliable and efficient ozone generation in affordable, air cooled systems. The benefits of Pacific Ozone's Floating PLate Technology allow challenging zone applications and products - previously deemed unrealistic due to cost, weight or locatio - to be approached with confidence and ease.
In the FPT reactor cell, an electric field is created across an unltra-narrow ttianium - ceramic dielectric plate. Since the titanium-ceramic plate is not mechanically constrained, it is vertually impervious to the stresses of heat, pressure and vacuum of corona discharge ozone genration. This yields very high reliability, even in harsh environments from the Bering Sea to the Arabian Desert.
In traditional corona discharge devices, the dielectric is mechanically attached by a rigid connection to the electrode making it susceptible to breakage from the stresses that are characteristic of high voltag ozone generation. The rigid connection can snap like te filament of a light globe, rendering the convental ozone useles.
The Pacific Ozone uses a narrow gap in our FPT reactor cells which increases the efficiency and requires less energy to generate ozone. In tuen, lower voltages reduces heat generation, allowing Pacific Ozone generators to be air cooled , even while continuously producing high concentrations of ozone.
Ultraviolet light
UV ozone generators employ a light source that generates a narrow-band ultraviolet light to produce ozone with a concentration of only 0.5% or lower. Another disadvantage of the UV method is that it requires the oxygen to be exposed to the UV source for a long period of time. This makes UV ozone generators exoensive to operate and maintain. They are used for applications that only require low levels of ozone output.
