AccuPoint ATP Positive Controls

TO VERIFY THE ACCURACY AND PERFORMANCE OF ACCUPOINT ATP SAMPLERS

The Neogen® AccuPoint ATP Positive Controls are designed to verify the accuracy and performance of Neogen AccuPoint® ATP samplers, including Surface, Water, and Access models. Each control vial contains a standardized concentration of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) for instrument calibration and system validation. These controls are intended for use in quality assurance programs and routine monitoring of ATP detection systems.

Composition and ATP Concentration

Each vial of the AccuPoint ATP Positive Controls contains lyophilized adenosine triphosphate (ATP) of analytical grade. When reconstituted in 2 mL of Type I (Ultrapure) deionized water, the resulting solution provides:
• ATP Concentration: 50 nM (5 × 10⁻⁸ mol/L)
• Absolute Quantity: 1000 femtomoles (1 × 10⁻¹² mol) per 20 µL aliquot
This concentration produces luminescence readings exceeding 1000 RLU when tested with AccuPoint ATP samplers.

Storage Requirements

  • Store vials refrigerated at 2–8°C (35–46°F).
    • Do not freeze.
    • Protect vials from direct sunlight.
    • Use reconstituted controls within 8 hours.
    • Discard any remaining solution after 8 hours of preparation.

Materials Provided

  • Three (3) glass vials containing lyophilized ATP Positive Controls.

Materials Required But Not Provided

  • Latex, nitrile, or polyurethane gloves
    • Type I (Ultrapure) deionized water
    • Pipettor capable of dispensing 1–2 mL volumes
    • Pipettor capable of dispensing 20 µL aliquots

Procedure

    1. Wear clean gloves to prevent contamination.
    2. Remove one ATP Positive Control vial and carefully remove the stopper.
    3. Add 2 mL of Type I deionized water to reconstitute the lyophilized contents.
    4. Recap and gently mix for 10 seconds to dissolve.
    5. Pipette 20 µL of the reconstituted solution onto the sampling pad of an AccuPoint sampler.
    6. Activate the sampler according to manufacturer instructions and read the relative light unit (RLU) result.
    7. A valid control test should produce an RLU reading greater than 1000.
    8. Use 20 µL of deionized water to establish the baseline (0 RLU) background.
    9. Discard any remaining solution after 8 hours.
