Clean-Trace Surface Positive Control ATP10

TO VERIFY THE PERFORMANCE OF CLEAN-TRACE SURFACE ATP SWABS

The ATP10 Clean-Trace Surface Positive Control is a precision reference reagent designed to verify the functionality and reliability of Neogen® Clean-Trace® Surface ATP Testing systems. It ensures the accuracy of ATP detection instruments and reagent performance through a controlled ATP standard concentration. Each test vial contains a known ATP load used to validate both reagent integrity and luminometer operation.

Product Description and Intended Use

The ATP10 Clean-Trace Surface Positive Control provides assurance that Neogen® Clean-Trace® reagents and instruments are operating correctly. Each kit contains 10 ready-to-use reagent vials, each containing 3.0 ng or 5 × 10⁻¹² moles of ATP. A pre-moistened test swab is used to collect the ATP pellet within the vial, which is then processed using the Clean-Trace® Surface ATP Test protocol. Expected readings should exceed 10,000 RLU, confirming correct instrument and reagent function.

Storage and Stability

  • Store between 2°C and 8°C (36°F–46°F) for maximum shelf life.
    • Do not freeze.
    • Protect from direct sunlight.
    • Ensure reagents reach room temperature prior to testing.
    • Expiry date and lot number are printed on each package.

Instructions for Use

    1. Allow all test components (swabs and positive control vials) to reach room temperature for at least 10 minutes.
    2. Gently tap the vial to ensure the ATP pellet is settled at the bottom.
    3. Remove the stopper carefully to avoid contamination.
    4. Open a Clean-Trace® test swab and swab the entire interior surface of the vial to collect the ATP pellet.
    5. Reinsert the swab into the device and activate the test by pressing the handle fully down.
    6. Shake the activated swab side-to-side for at least 5 seconds to ensure complete mixing.
    7. Read the test result on the Clean-Trace® luminometer per the manufacturer’s instructions.
    8. Expected result: greater than 10,000 RLU.
    9. Dispose of used materials according to biohazard waste guidelines.

Troubleshooting Guide

Low signal readings may be caused by:
• Incomplete mixing of sample – shake and retest.
• Expired or improperly stored reagents.
• Reagents not equilibrated to room temperature before testing.
• Residual ATP pellet remaining in vial (incomplete swabbing).
• Contaminated or damaged luminometer.

Safety and Handling

ATP is a naturally occurring compound found on skin and many surfaces. To prevent contamination:
• Do not touch the swab or inside of the vial.
• Wear gloves when handling reagents and samples.
• Dispose of used vials and swabs according to local biohazard regulations.
Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for further information.
