Brevis GlitterBug® Potion is a fluorescent lotion designed to simulate the spread of germs on the hands and skin, providing a visual and interactive demonstration for effective hand hygiene training. When applied to the skin, the lotion is invisible under normal light but glows vividly under UV light, revealing missed spots and improper handwashing techniques. It is an essential tool for healthcare, food safety, education, and infection prevention programs.

Principle of Operation

GlitterBug Potion contains a safe, non-toxic fluorescent compound that mimics the presence of microorganisms on the skin. When participants wash their hands after applying the lotion, areas not thoroughly cleaned remain visible under ultraviolet (UV) light. The glowing residue serves as a powerful visual cue, helping users identify handwashing deficiencies and reinforcing correct hygiene practices.

Training Procedure

1. Apply a small amount (approx. 1 mL) of GlitterBug® Potion evenly over both hands.
2. Encourage participants to rub the lotion into their skin as they would during normal hand contact.
3. Have participants wash their hands with soap and water using their regular technique.
4. Inspect hands under UV light using a Brevis GlitterBug® UV lamp or viewing cabinet.
5. Areas that glow indicate regions that were not adequately washed.
6. Repeat training as needed to reinforce proper hand hygiene practices.
